Peggy Cummings Workshop

David and I had an incredible opportunity to ride in a Peggy Cummings balanced workshop last weekend. This was my second clinic and David’s first. This was hosted by Naomi Preston in eastern Oregon. The clinic is a combination of discussion, personal exercises on ground, groundwork for the horse, and riding. In a nutshell- the entire clinic focuses on how to be a soft and balanced rider. By doing this- you care for your own body and are able to communicate more effectively which directly helps your horse move more efficiently. Who wouldn’t want that???David and I both desire to have our horses move efficiently as possible over long miles which means focusing on how we carry ourselves. Humans are always the weakest link in the human / horse relationship. We both left the clinic with homework and will have the opportunity to practice a new skill set during a 100 mile ride next week! Although Peggy has a busy summer - she will be back in Oregon in October. We are already signed up!

As always - endurance continues to inspire personal growth and push us outside our comfort zone. Our mantra in life is “Know better, do better.”
